A Guide to Visiting Lough Cuan Bowmen

Guest Archers Using our Club

Lough Cuan Bowmen welcomes archers from all over the UK and internationally to shoot with us, to build relationships, share their experience, and demonstrate other techniques, and enjoy the craic.

Our policy is aligned with guidelines from Archery GB in relation to non members using our club, which are inline with the paragraph above. We would not encourage visitors to use it as a regular alternative to shooting at their own club unless there are specific reasons.[1]

We shoot under the auspices of World Archery and Archery GB and visiting archers should be affiliated to them, to ensure they are covered by adequate insurance for the safety of all.

Other archery societies have their own insurance policies and are not transferable (generally). So for example, an archer shooting at an NIFAA (Northern Ireland Field Archery Association)/ IFAF Irish Field Archery Federation club under their insurance, would not be able to shoot with ourselves as a guest, unless they take out insurance with Archery GB directly.

[1] For example, where a club may not have access to club facilities, due to refurbishment/repairs for a period of time, may not have permanent shooting facilities, maybe in transition between facilities.

You you will be glad to hear you won’t have to do this on every visit. We will add you to our registration form and if you visit us again you will just have to sign in.
  • Please ensure that your equipment is safe to shoot.
  • While attending a club session guests should listen and adhere to instructions from our club field captain, line captain and/or committee members regarding safety and layout.
  • Guests can request a specific target distance and face via our field captain, and where possible our club will try and accommodate this.

We encourage you to interact and engage with members, however please consider

  • No guest should offer assistance to others at our club (coaching) without being first invited to do so.
  • Guests should not interfere with or adjust a club member’s archery equipment unless invited to do so.
  • Guests should not interfere with any club equipment without first seeking permission from the Field Captain.
  • Guests should not interfere with the range set up without first seeking permission from the Field Captain.
  • On specific sessions (internal club competitions or events) we reserve the right to close the club to guests for that session or arrange it to be an invite only session via the club committee.
  • Our club committee retains the right to refuse entry to a guest should that need arise.

This set of guidelines will allow our club to be fair to both our own full members and to our guests. We hope that this policy will secure our willingness to accommodate members of other clubs as guests, and do so in such a way that all archers including our own members have a clear perspective of what is required when doing so.l.
