 Lough Cuan Bowmen is an archery club  based in Newtownards, Co. Down and  seeks to promote and develop Archery opportunities, in North Down and the Peninsula region. Founded in 1986 we promote archery as a competitive and recreational sport.  Friendly and welcoming, our archers participate in events across the British Isles and Internationally, with members participating in and holding awards from local, national and world championship events.

Archery is an exciting, enjoyable, creative sport, open to individuals from all backgrounds, ages, and abilities. It brings people together with the goal of enjoying and developing a passion for archery. Our sport has much to offer; a sense of achievement in hitting the target, the excitement of a competition, the friendship that comes with engaging with others and the sense of belonging from being a member of a club. 

Participation in archery also provides many additional benefits to individuals, supporting physical, social, and mental wellbeing, providing educational benefits and the opportunity to learn and develop new skills as well as important attributes such as teamwork and fair play. Our members of all ages give a lot back to their local communities and archery, undertaking voluntary roles in coaching, judging, mentoring, administering, and governing the sport. 

Lough Cuan Bowmen is affiliated to the Archery Great Britain (AGB) and World Archery (WA) and maintain links with Clubs across the Island of Ireland and the UK.

The success of the club is founded on the continued support and dedication of our members. We value and appreciate their participation as they contribute to activities such as competitions, training events, coaching, judging, club nights, and many other elements which make our club a success.

As a club, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where archers from all backgrounds, and abilities feel safe, valued, and enjoy participating in the sport of archery and can develop their skills along pathways appropriate to their aspirations and potential.
